Colonoscopy
The purpose of a colonoscopy is to examine the inside of the colon and rectum to screen for and prevent colorectal cancer, detect polyps, and diagnose digestive disorders, ulcers, inflammation, and infections.
It allows our doctors to visualize the entire large intestine, remove suspicious tissue like polyps, or take biopsies for further testing.
A colonoscopy procedure involves a doctor inserting a long, flexible tube with a camera into your rectum to examine the entire colon. The colon is cleaned with a laxative prep and inflated with air for a clear view of the lining.
During the procedure, you will receive sedation to ensure comfort, and the doctor can remove polyps or take tissue samples.
